In the latest twist to a 15-month-long dispute, securities analyst and former Orlando Business Journal columnist Larry Kase has filed suit in Orange County Circuit Court, seeking to recoup more than $110,000 in legal fees. The fees stem from a complaint lodged by the state’s Department of Banking and Finance. Regulators allege Kase, while doing work for Allen Douglas Securities Inc., supervised a broker who allegedly mishandled a client’s account. Kase denied involvement, and an administrative law judge agreed. In a blistering written decision, the judge ruled in Kase’s favor, writing that there was no evidence that he “had any role whatsoever” — and had, in fact, taken steps to guard the account in question.
